Expert Mental Health Assessments for a Range of Conditions in Surrey

Child Mental Health Clinic has a dedicated team of experienced professionals who carry out expert assessments for a number of conditions, including:

ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

This lifelong developmental disability can affect someone’s abiltiy to communicate and interact socially.

People with ASD often have difficulties with verbal and non-verbal communication. You might notice your child exhibiting repetitive behaviours, and may have a narrow range of interests. The severity and symptoms vary widely, ranging from mild to severe.

Early intervention and support is vital for improving your child’s social skills and ability to adapt to different situations.

Depression

Depression is characterised by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed.

It can also cause physical symptoms including a change in appetite, sleep disturbances and fatigue. Depression can affect your child or adolescent’s ability to function in daily life.

Anxiety

Anxiety can be defined as an emotional response characterised by feelings of tension and worried thoughts. It cause a range of physical symptoms such as increased heart rate and sweating.

Although most people experience anxiety in stressful situations, it becomes a disorder when it is excessive, persistent, and interferes with daily activities. Generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety and panic disorder are some of the most common types.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder marked by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness.

Symptoms usually appear in childhood and can continue into adulthood. Having an assessment is important since it can affect someone’s ability to perform at school or work. Treatments typically include behavioural interventions and medication to help manage symptoms.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is a mental health disorder characterised by recurring, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours or mental acts (compulsions) that an individual feels driven to perform. These compulsions are often aimed at reducing anxiety or preventing a feared event or situation, even though they are not connected in a realistic way.

Tics and Tourette’s Syndrome

Tics are sudden, repetitive movements or sounds that are difficult to control. Tourette’s Syndrome is a neurological disorder involving multiple motor and vocal tics. The condition typically emerges in childhood and varies in severity.

We also offer assessments and treatments for bi-polar disorder, eating disorders, self-harm and early onset psychosis.
