What's the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist?

A psychiatrist is a qualified medical doctor specialising in diagnosing and treating mental health problems. They can prescribe medication and investigate physical causes affecting mental health. A psychologist, on the other hand, studies psychology at university and may specialise in areas such as clinical psychology. Psychologists provide talking therapies but cannot prescribe medication.
