What happens during an ASD assessment?
There is an initial psychiatric consultation with our Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist which usually takes about 90 minutes, where they will have a detailed discussion about your concerns about your child. If this consultation concludes negative screening for ASD, then we don’t recommend any further action.
However, if ASD is suspected, we would recommend a full multi-disciplinary diagnostic assessment which examines your child’s development, social and communication skills and intellectual abilities and will be able to conclude if your child meets criteria for ASD or not.
