Information On ADHD Assessments And Treatments

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition most known for causing restlessness and problems concentrating. Most children go through periods where they’re restless and inattentive, but the symptoms are much more pronounced in kids with ADHD. Children with this condition might also often act on impulse.

Symptoms of ADHD usually start at an early age. However, they might become more noticeable when your child starts school.

Although majority of cases in children  are diagnosed when they’re under 12 years old, this isn’t always the case. Sometimes, it’s even diagnosed when someone’s an adult.  The symptoms of ADHD often improve with age, although for some, it can continue to cause issues.

Children with ADHD may also have further problems: for instance, sleep and anxiety disorders.

What treatments are there for ADHD?

Although there is no cure, a diagnosis can help your child to get the support they need at school. Medication is also an option in some cases, as is CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy).
